Developer Steve Troughton-Smith, as a leak expert, often succeeds in finding new features and hardware details in Apple software, has now published details, which will be removed in the future Mojave successor. The list is not short.

32-bit apps and plugins are already known. It’s also a nuisance to macOS 10.15 for developers who still use the old classic API Carbon. Corresponding apps will not run anymore. Another feature that is hardly ever used, the pen support ink, Apple also wants to delete, so Troughton-Smith.

Already confirmed by Apple that the professional photo app Aperture only works in Mojave. According to the group’s support document, support will be withdrawn in later versions of the operating system, and users should first port their library for photos.

Troughton-Smith has a positive message regarding iOS apps on macOS. Apple’s “Project Marzipan” is to receive more stable and faster integrations. Instead of using the AppKit wrapper host process via XPC, such programs can be used directly in the future. This allows a “native” use of UIKit applications, the barriers between AppKit and UIKit Apple allegedly. Ported apps should run faster and start faster.
