Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 receive new cumulative updates to preview mode before their arrival to all users

Published on

What Windows 7 is going to reach the end of support in 2020 and then the turn of Windows 8.1 are not reasons for Microsoft to leave aside the current grandparents of its operating system, at least those that are still valid (Windows XP or Windows Vista better we do not talk).

For all those who still have a copy of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on their computers, Microsoft has released new cumulative updates. Compensations are intended primarily for IT managers (Information Technology). These are improvements that will reach all users on Patch Tuesday.

With this two compilations above all we will see corrections related to the improvement of the operation , without finding novelties related to the security of the system. Specifically these improvements arrive for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 with the patch KB4499178. In the case of Windows 8.1, the improvements also come to Windows Server 2012 with the patch KB4499182.

Improvements for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008

  • Fixes a problem with the correct configuration of the date separator in a short date format when the Japanese language is used. There is more information at this link.
  • The time zone information for Morocco has been updated.
  • The time zone information for the Palestinian Authority has been updated.
  • Performance has been improved with string comparison functions such as _stricmp () in Universal C Runtime.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause event 7600 in the domain name system (DNS) server event log to contain an unreadable server name.
  • Fixed an issue where applications created with the universal CRT (UCRT) receive the missing export message “__C specific handler_noexcept”.
  • This build corrects a rare problem that prevents fmod () from returning “-0” if necessary.
