Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, future president and vice president of the United States according to projections, were elected as 2020 Person of the Year by Time magazine.

“The Person of the Year for Time is president-elect and vice president-elect Kamala Harris,” announced American singer, musician and songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

According to the magazine, Biden and Harris together offered restoration and renovation on a single ticket.

“And America bought what they were selling: after the highest turnout in a century, they racked up 81 million votes and counting, the most in presidential history, topping Trump by some 7 million votes and flipping five battleground states,” writes columnist Charlotte Alter.

At the same time, the journalist wonders if there is a team capable of solving current US problems, given their scale and variety.

“while Biden will be the 46th man to serve as President, he may be the first since Lincoln to inherit a Republic that is questioning the viability of its union,” she highlights.
