The control values of gamma radiation exposure rate (red dots) have been surpassed at a substantial part of the observation stations, according to data from the Exclusion Zone’s Automated Radiation Control System, which is available online.

In the Chornobyl zone, where the Russian occupiers are, an increase in radiation has been recorded.

State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine says that the control values of gamma radiation exposure rate (red dots) have been surpassed at a substantial part of the observation stations, according to data from the Exclusion Zone’s Automated Radiation Control System, which is available online.

It is currently impossible to determine the causes of the shift in the radioactive background in the exclusion zone due to the occupation and conflicts, said the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine.

Throughout Thursday, the Russian occupants, who seized the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on February 24, attempted to carry out a terrorist attack in the exclusion zone and trigger an environmental disaster.

Lala Tarapakina, an adviser to the Minister for Exclusion Zones at Ukraine’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, reported on the situation on February 25.

“Chernobyl. In fact, the workers of the station are hostages now. But above all – hostages of their professionalism and conscience.  This is an object that can not be abandoned, no matter what happens,” – said in a statement. 

“The station is working. Everything is quiet. The workers had breakfast and went to work. Our colleagues and friends from the station ask not to panic and not to call them every minute. Everyone is alive and well,” said the minister’s adviser.
