According to the sources, the man entered head first and couldn’t get out.

A man’s body has been found inside the leg of a dinosaur statue after he apparently became trapped while trying to retrieve his phone.

Spanish police said a father and son raised the alarm after noticing something was inside.

The Stegosaurus statue stands outside the Cubic Building in Santa Coloma de Gramene, on the outskirts of Barcelona.

“We found the body of a man inside the leg of the dinosaur statue,” a police spokesperson said.

“It’s an accidental death; there was no violence. This person got inside the statue’s leg and got trapped.

“It looks as though he was trying to retrieve a mobile phone, which he’d dropped. It looks like he entered the statue head first and couldn’t get out.”

The man, 39, was reported missing by his family a few hours before his body was discovered.

Police said they were waiting for the results of a post-mortem to determine how long he was inside the statue.
