On November 17, 2019, in Wuhan, in China’s Hubei province, patient zero was registered for COVID-19. A 55-year-old person approached the local doctors for the first time with symptoms of the new coronavirus and no one suspected that day would mark history and turn the world upside down.
No country was prepared to face the crises that the pandemic brought with it, the virus spread at an unimaginable speed throughout all countries and virtually paralyzed the world for a time.
Everyone had to learn to study the virus to protect themselves. Health personnel were the first to come into direct contact with the invisible enemy, a virus that every day took the lives of thousands of people.
Scientific studies and the media raised massive awareness of what COVID-19 was and how to avoid getting infected. Meanwhile, several countries began extensive work to find a vaccine and anti-virus drugs.
Millions of people remained in confinement for months, and the most developed economies were hit. As if that were not enough, when it seemed that COVID-19 had already surpassed the peak in several countries.
Nothing has been the same since that November 17, 2019 and millions of people continue to wait for a cure against the coronavirus to reunite with their loved ones and hug their friends without fear of infecting them.

There are several theories that have emerged on the origin of the COVID-19 in humans, from bats and pangolins to conspiracy theories that it would have come out from a laboratory. For the moment, the only certainty is that humanity will have to learn to live with the coronavirus until a vaccine is found that passes all the testing phases and is effective.
So far, there are more than 55,292,586 confirmed cases of infection and more than 1,331,895 deaths caused by COVID-19 around the world, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
