It will be difficult for Prince Andrew, Duke of York to ignore Carolyn Andriano’s assertions.
Carolyn Andriano’s claims, which she testified about during Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial, is going to put additional pressure on the prince.
Carolyn Andriano, who testified in New York last month in the prosecution of sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, claims Virginia Giuffre told her in 2001 that she slept with Prince Andrew in London.
The allegations, made in an interview with the Daily Mail, will add more pressure on the prince, as they are a contemporaneous record of his claimed sexual assault on Giuffre, who was 17 at the time. He has flatly denied the allegations, and his lawyers have been pleading with a US judge to dismiss Giuffre’s civil complaint.
Andriano, who was 14 at the time and residing in Florida, claimed she received a text message from Giuffre (formerly Virginia Roberts before her marriage) in 2001 from London, claiming she had slept with the prince.
“[Giuffre] said, ‘I got to sleep with him’,” Andriano told the Mail.
The allegations came after Andriano, now 35, waived her legal right to remain anonymous in order to tell the complete story of her grooming and sexual assault from age 14 to 17 at convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s $18.5 million estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
Previously, Andriano testified anonymously at Maxwell’s trial, along with two other women who decided to remain anonymous, and 42-year-old Annie Farmer, who decided to testify in public. Andriano testified as “Carolyn” at the trial and claimed that Giuffre introduced her to Maxwell and Epstein when she was just 14.
Giuffre texted Andriano in 2001, stating, “You’ll never guess who I’m with…”, according to Andriano’s Mail interview. “Who?” replied Andriano.
Andriano told the Mail: “[Giuffre] said, “I’m in London with Jeffrey and Maxwell and Prince Andrew.”
“She said they were going to have dinner. I kind of didn’t believe her, but I had no reason not to. I thought it was far-fetched but, then again, she knew wealthy people and had been to fancy parties and stuff like that.”
Andriano said she had asked Giuffre if she’d been to the palace.
“And she said, ‘I got to sleep with him’. She didn’t seem upset about it. She thought it was pretty cool,” Andriano recalled.
As Andriano revealed to the Mail, Giuffre texted her a photo of her with the prince. Revyuh team was unable to independently verify the claims right away.
According to the Daily Mail, the prince’s representatives refused to comment.
Wednesday afternoon’s Manhattan federal court trial found Maxwell, 60, guilty of sex trafficking. She was arrested in July 2020 on suspicion of assisting her ex-boyfriend Epstein in sexually assaulting adolescent females.
According to the Daily Mail, Andriano was not paid for her conversation with the newspaper. She told the newspaper that she was stepping up to let “all young women to know what happened to me when I was a teenager and how it has affected my life. This is my story and I want to tell it”.
For the Mail interview, Andriano waived her right to anonymity.
