Russia blacklisted 398 US congressmen: here is the list

Published on

The decision was made in response to the United States imposing sanctions on members of the Russian Federation’s State Duma.

In reaction to US sanctions against State Duma members, Russia blacklisted 398 members of the US House of Representatives. This was reported on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website on Wednesday, April 13.

“In response to the next” wave “of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the Administration of George Biden on March 24 this year against 328 deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, which, taking into account the Russian parliamentarians previously blacklisted, makes up almost its entire composition, “mirror” sanctions restrictions are being introduced against 398 members of the House of Representatives of the US Congress,” the agency said in a statement.

It is noted that the American congressmen were included “in the Russian” stop list “on a permanent basis” They, like other sanctioned US legislators, were banned from entering the territory of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry, “taking into account the constantly imposed US sanctions,” announced an increase in the number of persons against whom “countermeasures” will be introduced.

Similar sanctions were also imposed against 87 senators of the Parliament of Canada in connection with the decision of Ottawa to blacklist all Russian senators. The Canadian Senate has 105 seats.

The United States imposed sanctions against Russian deputies in several stages. So, on March 11, 12 members of the lower house of the Federal Assembly, including the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov and the speaker of the Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, fell under restrictions.

On March 24, sanctions were imposed against 328 deputies, as well as against the State Duma itself as an institution. Thus, at least 340 deputies were included in the American blacklists, in total there are 450 seats in the State Duma.

Canada imposed sanctions against 160 Russian senators on March 24 for facilitating and allowing violations of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
