The fungus affects the lungs and other organs of patients, as well as nails, skin, stomach, kidneys, and brain and if detected late, this infection can lead to death.
In India, against the background of an increase in the number of cases of patients with black mold, another fungal disease, the white fungus which is more dangerous than black fungus, began to be recorded.
This was reported on Thursday, May 20, by The Times of India.
As indicated by the publication, four cases of the disease were detected in the hospital of the Medical College of Patna.

According to experts, “White Fungus infection is more dangerous than black fungus infection”.
“White fungus is acutely affecting the lungs and other organs, as well as nails, skin, stomach, kidneys, and brain. Like black fungus, this infection is also a fungal infection, which is especially threatening for patients with diabetes or those undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection with suppressed immune systems,” explained Chief of Microbiology at PMCH, Dr. S N Singh.
He clarified that if detected late, such an infection can lead to death.
The doctor also approached coronavirus patients to take the “white fungus” infection seriously and monitor their symptoms.
The publication reminds that black mold was diagnosed in those patients with coronavirus infection who were in the intensive care unit and took steroids for a long time.

“This condition also occurs in diabetic patients who have been receiving high doses of steroids for a long time,” the article says.
Fungal cases have been reported in the states of Rajasthan, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and the National Capital District of Delhi (which includes New Delhi).
