Tokyo has protested North Korea after the missile launched by Pyongyang on the morning of October 2, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters.

“Such ballistic missile launches are in violation of UN resolutions, we have expressed strong protest and condemn them,” Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters.

In turn, the general secretary of the Japanese Cabinet, Yoshihide Suga, confirmed at a press conference that one shell reached the country’s exclusive economic zone and fell in the Sea of Japan at Dogo Island in Shimane Prefecture at 7:27 a.m. The second shell fell outside the exclusive economic zone of Japan at about 7:17.

He added that the Prime Minister instructed to collect and analyze all the information, timely and properly provide it to the public, confirm the safety of aircraft and ships and prepare for unforeseen situations.

On Wednesday morning, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea (JCS) reported that North Korean military launched unidentified shells in the direction of the Sea of Japan. As the Japanese government noted, two ballistic missiles were allegedly launched.

The launch took place the day after DPRK First Deputy Foreign Minister Choi Song Hui announced the agreement between Pyongyang and Washington to resume diplomatic negotiations on denuclearization this week. Dialogue stalled after the failure of the Hanoi summit in February.
