A girl with rare dark spots born in the US

This lovely baby girl was born with a rare disease that has resulted in dark patches all over her body.

Toneka Rogers Robinson, 32, of Dallas, Texas, and her husband, 34-year-old entrepreneur Justin, met in high school and had been married for 17 years before the birth of their daughter Jireh.

Toneka saw her doctor on a regular basis and had many tests performed to ensure that everything went smoothly during her pregnancy.

“I had numerous appointments and tests to ensure the safety of this pregnancy,” said the couple.

Jireh, a joyful and healthy baby, was born in June 2021, but the couple was first frightened since Jireh was born with dark spots all over her skin.

Toneka and Justin were promptly convinced by their doctors that the signs were only superficial. Jireh was in wonderful health.

“My doctor said it was just pigmentation marks and she wasn’t in pain, my heart relaxed.”

“Jireh is perfectly healthy, and all her tests have come back normal.”

Jireh was diagnosed with Congenital Melanocytic Nevus (CMN), which is characterized by visible pigmented (melanocytic) proliferations in the skin that appear at birth.

The disease is not genetic and is caused by defective pigment cell formation during the first trimester of pregnancy.

This disease affects around 1% of all babies globally. Melanoma is more likely among those who have this disorder.

Toneka and Justin started posting images of their daughter on Instagram to keep family updated, but Jireh’s distinct appearance drew notice, and her Instagram account @ jirehjoy_ currently has over 7,000 followers.

The couple is thrilled to be able to show the world their lovely child, and they are hopeful that Jireh will grow up in a world that is growing more accepting of differences.

Jireh’s skin is gorgeous, and Toneka and Justin will keep showing her that others agree.

“Today’s generation is all about inclusion and embracing differences. There are so many stars, like Winnie Harlow and Seal, whose skin looks different. They’re still accepted for their talents,” Toneka said.

“I’m sure she will receive some less-than-favourable comments, but her confidence will be able to withstand ignorance.
