A powerful explosion hit the center of the city of Nashville in the state of Tennessee, several buildings were damaged, but no casualties have been reported.

Emergency services arrived at the scene near Second Avenue and Commerce Street around 6:45 am local time (12:45 GMT) and attempted to put out the fire.

The Nashville Fire Department advised avoiding the area of the explosion.

A witness who lives in the area told the Associated Press that the windows of his home were broken.

The vehicle-related explosion shook the American city center on Christmas morning, leaving broken glass and debris over a wide area and shaking nearby buildings.
The Nashville Police Department believes the explosion was deliberate.
