California school board members caught red-handed passing unjust comments against parents on an online meeting

Parents signed a petition against the board members of Oakley Union Elementary School as they were caught red-handed by the parents while they were ridiculing the parents and claiming that they wanted their children to go to school because they wanted time for Marijuana.

While the lockdown persists in California given the increasing number of cases, and the rise of deadly variants further worsening the situation, the schools continue to remain shut.

Online classes and meetings are conducted across the state. In the course, Californian parents were struck by a bitter incident that led them to petition for recalling the board members of the school. Allegedly the board members were caught red-handed passing unacceptable comments on parents.

An online meeting was organized by the Oakley Union Elementary School Board on Wednesday. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the returning of children to the schools amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

It is reported that the board members weren’t aware that the parents had joined the meeting, and begun passing unwarranted comments, ridiculing them, amongst themselves. As reported by ABC7, one of the board members named Kim Beede asked if they were done. As the conversation flowed, Beede imitated herself calling out to parents who wrote to them regarding the reopening of school.

“B**ch, if you are going to call me out I am going to f**k you up! Sorry! That’s just me,” Kim was caught saying, while other members were laughing.

Another board member named Liza Brizendine said that parents considered teachers as their “personal babysitters“. “They don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. It’s really unfortunate they want to pick on us. They want their babysitters back,” she continued.

As the board members continued to mock, one of them named Richie Massades said that the parents wanted to send their kids to school so they can indulge in drugs.

“My brother had a delivery service for medical marijuana and he delivered to parents while their kids were at school,” she was recorded while saying.

The parents who witnessed and heard every bit of the highly unappreciative comments made by the board members are irked. They have signed a Change.org petition demanding the recall or resignation of the board members. The petition is titled ‘Oakley Union Elementary School District Board Members – Resign immediately or be recalled‘ and more than 2,250 people have signed it.

Greg Hatrick, the School Superintendent has come up with a statement on the disrespectful mockery. He has taken responsibility for the incident and has condemned it. He has also apologized for what happened and has pledged to put the effort into rebuilding the trust.

“I pledge to work collaboratively with stakeholders and community members to begin doing the important work that is needed to rebuild community trust in our district,” he said.
