In Florida, a 7-year-old hero saved his father and sister from a terrible death

In Florida, a 7-year-old boy became a hero after he swam to shore to call for help while his sister and father were swept away by the current.

According to the children’s father Stephen Poust, he left his boat at anchor on the St. John’s River in Jacksonville to allow his two children, 7-year-old Chase, and 4-year-old Abigail, to swim on May 28.

According to Chase, Abigail, who usually sits at the stern of the boat, suddenly fell out because the current was so strong.

A 7 year old boy decided to try to keep her from drifting, but then he got stuck.

His father jumped up to try to help them and told Chase to swim to the shore while he tried to get to his daughter, who was wearing a life jacket.

“I told them I loved him because I wasn’t sure what’s going to happen,” Post said.

The boy managed to reach the shore in an hour. He said that he swam on his back and on the dog, so as not to get tired. When he reached the ground, he went to the nearest house for help.

Meanwhile, his father and sister drifted 1.5 to 2 miles from the boat’s location, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Authority.

JFRD reached the boat but had to call in other agencies to expand the search, spokesperson Eric Prosswimmer said in a news conference.

If it wasn’t for the help of his colleagues the outcome could have been different, Prosswimmer said.

“We had every resource we could have possibly had coming quickly and we’re happy to say all three have been recovered, and all three are doing well,” he said. “We couldn’t ask for a better outcome.”
