The driver’s pal stayed in the car by accident and fell asleep when he woke up, found a complete stranger behind the wheel.

In the US city of Tiffin, there was funny car theft. The offender accidentally stole a passenger along with the car.

On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at around 1:17pm, the Findlay Police Department contacted the Tiffin Police Department to report a stolen vehicle, a white Audi, en route from Findlay to the Tiffin area with a passenger/hostage.

According to the Findlay Police Department, the passenger was asleep in the backseat at the time of the robbery. As the stolen vehicle approached Tiffin, the passenger was able to warn authorities via text messages about its whereabouts.

Tiffin officers identified the stolen car at 1:26 p.m. and attempted to make a traffic stop near the Tiffin Mercy Hospital on U.S. 224. Justin M. Vaughn, the motorist, failed to comply with the traffic check and fled eastbound on US Highway 224. As the vehicle went southbound on S.R. 100, officers pursued it.

The chase continued through Melmore and onto SR100 until it reached the Crawford County line.

Tiffin Officers used a slow speed vehicle termination tactic to halt the pursuit shortly after crossing the county boundary.

Deputies from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Department apprehended Vaughn.

Vaughn faces charges of felony armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft, and running and eluding police.

The passenger/hostage was found safe and unharmed.

Sycamore Fire/EMS treated Vaughn and the passenger/hostage on the scene and released them, police reported.
