A North Carolina neighbor was taken into custody after making multiple threats against President Joe Biden, the United States Department of Justice reported.

David Kyle Reeves, 27, of the city of Gastonia, repeatedly called the White House telephone exchange between January 28 and February 1 and made threats against Biden.

When contacted by a Secret Service agent on February 1, he repeated the threats against the president, his interlocutor, and other personnel. He also made similar threats when calling the Capitol Police.

By decision of judge David Keesler, the defendant will remain in custody until the hearing of the case, which is being investigated by the Secret Service.

If convicted, Reeves faces up to five years in prison and a $ 250,000 fine.
