The title of this article might seem like a hoax or a 17th-century newspaper headline, but this is exactly what happened at a high school in Aledo, Texas.

The ninth-graders at Daniel Ninth Grade Center opened a group on Snapchat called Nigger Auction, in which black classmates could be auctioned off.

Despite the fact that this episode happened several weeks ago, it has only now been made public due to the latest statements about the Aledo Independent School District (ISD) case.

The school students considered the auction as a game, where the prices of their classmates ranged between $ 1 and $ 100, according to the screenshots that have been published on other social networks. It is even mentioned in the pictures that someone offered a dollar for a partner. He would have offered more “if his hair weren’t so bad.”

School District Decision

After ISD officials learned of the situation, a police investigation was launched. According to local media reports, the incident was classified as cyberbullying, although some parents in the community have requested that it be classified as hate crimes.

School District authorities have already disciplined the students involved, although it is unknown what specific measures were taken against them, or how many participated in the Snapchat group.

“There is no room for racism or hatred in the Aledo Independent School District, period. The use of inappropriate, offensive, and racially charged language and conduct are completely unacceptable and prohibited by district policy,” Aledo’s superintendent, Susan Bohn said in a statement.
