Ukraine Sinks Another Russian ship In The Black Sea

Published on

The Ukrainian government announced on Friday that a Russian ship carrying weaponry was targeted by Ukrainian missiles and sank while en route to the ‘Island of Serpents’ in the Black Sea near the Danube delta.

Harpoon anti-ship missiles delivered by Denmark to Ukraine would have severely damaged the Russian cruiser ‘Vasyl Bekh’ of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The vessel Vasyl Bekh was attacked at 4 a.m. while en route to the island with men, weapons, and ammo.

Maxim Marchenko, the head of the regional war administration in Odessa, was the first to claim responsibility for the strike.

Although the video was later removed from the Ukrainian navy’s Twitter account.

Since 2017, the Vasyl Bekh has been a part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The ‘Vasyl Bekh’ is not the Russian Navy’s first ship to be lost in the Black Sea during the conflict. The Russian Defense Ministry announced on May 14 that the ‘Moskva,’ the flagship of the Black Sea fleet, sank while being towed after a fire caused by a Ukrainian Army strike.

The ‘Island of Snakes,’ some 35 kilometers off the coast of Ukraine, has become a symbol of the country’s resistance due to the Ukrainian Border Guard military’s reluctance to surrender to Russian troops at the start of the invasion.
