One Ring to rule them all? With Ring Fit Adventures Nintendo tries again on the Switch, sport and play game. The so-called Ring-Con is a circular input device, in which one of the two Joy-Con is used by the standard controller of the Switch. When you squeeze the ring, the force is measured, which in turn has effects in the game. But there is also a leg strap, in which the other Joy-Con is pushed – for example, running movements are detected.

With these two input devices the player in the computer game Ring Fit Adventures should fight the evil bodybuilder dragon Draco. To run in the game, the player has to jog in front of the monitor on the spot. Who does not want to disturb his neighbors: Optionally, there is a mode, with the running also works by quieter movements without trapping.

To turn off opponents or to accomplish other special actions, the Ring-Con must be compressed, swung or otherwise moved – like, the program shows in a separate window.

There are over 40 exercises, divided into four categories: red exercises for the arms, yellow for the trunk muscles, blue for the legs and green are based on yoga. The color is important because the opponents are colored accordingly. If you attack a green enemy with a yoga attack, it will do you more damage than with a forward bend. The bouts are turn-based, so the exercises can be done in peace.

The campaign leads through 20 worlds in which the player gradually rises in level and unlocks new attacks and evasive maneuvers – until at some point the fight against the bodybuilder dragon is pending. Everything should be largely adapted to the fitness level of the user, long or short breaks are possible at any time.

If you just want to do a short workout, you can do the quick play. This makes it possible to score points in a series of mini-games, plus individual exercises and sets – the latter is a series of exercises tailored to specific muscle groups.

Ring Fit Adventure will be released on October 18, 2019. In the US, the program costs about $ 80 with the two input devices. Nintendo has not revealed the price in Europe yet.
