Surface event, October 2nd: dual screen time?

A Microsoft event entirely dedicated to Surface will be staged on October 2nd in New York City: these are the expected novelties on the hardware front.

Save the Date for Microsoft Event October 2 New York

Still just over a month of waiting and Microsoft could finally officially present its first dual screen device, so far known by the code name Centaurus and to which we have referred several times as to Courier‘s heir. The Redmond group has in fact set for October 2 an event entirely dedicated to the Surface range that will be staged in New York City.

Microsoft Surface: the October 2 event

A product that could not reach the market immediately, at least not until 2020, when the category of devices with two screens or folding is presumed to offer some models, perhaps more solid and reliable than those announced to date (the reference it’s obviously on Galaxy Fold and Mate X). It is not to be excluded that on this occasion the arrival of Windows Lite, a slimmed-down version of the Windows 10 operating system, whose alleged goal is to enter into direct competition with Chrome OS, attacking the same target of potential users, can also be made official.

Other rumors related to what Microsoft could reveal in early October concern a Surface Laptop 3 with advanced technical specifications and the inclusion of USB-C ports. Rumors would like a substantially unaltered design and the arrival of an AMD processor variant.

Online modifications to those of any Surface Pro 7 with USB-C. In this case it could be announced a version with Snapdragon 8cx processor at 7 nm and LTE connectivity. Other editions will almost certainly be equipped with chipset based on ARM architecture and Intel Core of the tenth generation.

The latest Intel CPUs should also be integrated into Surface Book 3, a device in which the USB-C port already present on the previous model could be updated with Thunderbolt 3 support. The debut of Surface Go can not be ruled out either with ARM components instead of Intel and a revised design with the thinning of the edges surrounding the display.

News are also expected on the accessories front: wireless headsets (code name Morrison) and a keyboard that instead of the Windows key on the right has a button dedicated to Office. On the other hand, it will be hard to see the Andromeda flyer and the successor to Surface Studio 2 introduced a year ago at the beginning of October.
