After testing positive for coronavirus, Lupita Nyong’o was forced to cancel her press day for her upcoming film The 355.

The actress, 38, shared the news on Twitter, encouraging her followers to get their Covid vaccines and to continue to wear masks in the wake of the outbreak.

She tweets: “I too have tested positive for Covid-19. I’m fully vaccinated and taking care in isolation, so I trust I will be well.

“Please do all you can to keep yourself and others protected from serious illness. #StayMaskedAndVaxxed.”

Before contracting the virus, Lupita was scheduled to appear in virtual interviews with Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Sebastian Stan, Fan Bingbing, and director Simon Kinberg to promote The 355.

Lupita will appear as Khadijah, a former MI6 ally and computer specialist, in the film, which will be released on January 7. She will be one of a group of multinational agents who must band together in order to prevent a terrorist organization from launching World War Three.

The four top agents, performed by Lupita, Penelope, Jessica, and Diane, are tasked with retrieving a secret weapon that has slipped into the wrong hands, all while evading the villain Lin Mi Sheng, played by Fan, who is on the trail of the agents.

Coronavirus infections have been on the rise in the United States as a result of the Omicron type, and Lupita Nyong’o is the latest in a long line of celebrities to test positive.

Others who have backed out of scheduled appearances this week include Seth Meyers, who was forced to cancel production for his show Late Night With Seth Meyers.

He tweeted earlier in the day: “The bad news is, I tested positive for Covid (thanks, 2022!) the good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!).

“We are canceling the rest of the shows this week, so tune in next Monday to see what cool location we will try and pass off as a studio!!!”

Additionally, The View was forced to switch to a remote production plan when star Whoopi Goldberg tested positive this week.
