Many people in the US suffer from high blood pressure, but a new study suggests that the juice of one simple fruit may be the key to lowering it.

The risk of heart attacks and strokes increases with high blood pressure.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is expected to affect over one billion individuals worldwide. It is measured using two units: systolic blood pressure, or SBP, and diastolic blood pressure, or DBP.

SBP is the higher number, referring to the force with which blood is propelled around the body, whilst DBP is the lower number, referring to the resistance blood flow encounters in your vessels.

If you don’t take action to keep your blood pressure under control, readings between 120/80mmHg and 140/90mmHg could suggest you’re in danger of having high blood pressure.

Blood pressure is described as the amount of force put on your organs and blood arteries by your heart as the red material moves around the body.

Given the prevalence of the ailment, it’s no surprise that figuring out how to cope with it is a major worry. Making healthy lifestyle adjustments can sometimes help minimize your risk of developing high blood pressure or lower it if it already exists.

While the best thing you can do to manage your blood pressure is to eat a healthy diet, there are a few handy tips and methods you can take to help yourself along the road.

One such method makes use of a very popular and inexpensive fruit.

Lemon juice is known to have a strong blood pressure-lowering effect. Citrus fruits are high in vitamins and minerals that may help to lower your blood pressure risk.

A 5-month study including 101 Japanese women found that daily lemon juice consumption along with walking was substantially associated with lower SBP, an effect attributed to the citric acid and flavonoid content of lemons by the researchers.

Drinking orange and grapefruit juice has also been demonstrated to help lower blood pressure in studies. However, grapefruit and grapefruit juice can interact with some blood pressure medications, so talk to your doctor before incorporating this fruit into your diet.

According to studies, potassium-rich fruits and vegetables help reduce blood pressure by reducing tension in blood vessel walls.
