A new study suggests that drinking more coffee may reduce the risk of developing endometrial cancer, a kind of cancer that starts in the uterus lining.

According to a review of relevant studies published to date, more coffee consumption is associated to a lower risk of endometrial cancer, a kind of cancer that originates in the linking of uterus.

Furthermore, caffeinated coffee may provide higher protection than decaffeinated coffee.

The study, published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Research, examined 24 investigations on coffee consumption, resulting in 9,833 new cases of endometrial cancer in 699,234 people.

People who consumed the most coffee had a 29% lower relative risk of developing endometrial cancer than those who consumed the least.

The study’s authors point to a number of pathways that have been linked to coffee’s possible anti-cancer properties.

“Further studies with large sample size are needed… to obtain more information regarding the benefits of coffee drinking in relation to the risk of endometrial cancer,” they wrote.
