Unique-looking oval fruit with rich, special taste and full of nutrients that help digestion and control blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, and protect against vision loss – What is it?

This unique-looking oval fruit add bright color and tangy flavor to salads, smoothies, desserts, and more. Kiwis are a tropical treat you can enjoy almost any time of year. Its green and sweet flesh, is rich in nutrients such as vitamin C, K and E, folic acid and potassium.

They also contain many antioxidants and are an excellent source of fiber. Their small black seeds are edible, as is the brown skin, although many prefer to peel kiwis before eating them.

  1. They help digestion

Kiwis have a lot of fiber, which is known to contribute to better digestion. They also contain a proteolytic enzyme called actinidine that can help break down the protein. A recent study found that actinidine-containing actinide extract significantly enhanced the digestion of most proteins.

  1. They strengthen the immune system

Rich in nutrients and full of vitamin C, kiwis provide about 273% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C in just one cup. Vitamin C is an important nutrient for strengthening the immune system and preventing diseases.

One study found that kiwis can boost immune function and reduce the risk of developing diseases such as colds and flu, which is especially important for high-risk groups such as the elderly over 65 and young children.

  1. They help control blood pressure

Kiwis not only provide an extra boost to our immune system, but also help us control our blood pressure.

A 2014 study found that bioactive substances in three kiwis a day can lower blood pressure more than an apple a day.

In the long run, this may mean a lower risk of diseases that can be caused by high blood pressure, such as stroke and heart attack.

  1. They protect against vision loss

Macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss and kiwis can help protect the eyes from it.

A study has found that by consuming three servings of this fruit daily, macular degeneration was reduced by 36%.

The high levels of zeaxanthin and lutein contained in kiwis are thought to contribute to this effect.
