Human Rights Abuses in China: the U.S. Receives Data from Japan

Tokyo is strengthening intelligence cooperation with the Five Eyes alliance, which includes the intelligence services of five states.

A secret source of information received by the United States and Britain on the human rights situation in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which led to the imposition of sanctions against Beijing, is Japan. This was reported by Kyodo News agency today.

This is how Tokyo is strengthening intelligence cooperation with the Five Eyes alliance, which includes the intelligence services of the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Since Japan is not officially a member of Five Eyes, it provides its data to this body in some cases. In particular, the Japanese government passed on information about the Chinese district, but put forward a condition – Washington and London will not publicly refer to the source of this data.

According to human rights activists, up to a million Uyghur and other Turkic Muslims are being forcibly detained in camps in China. In this regard, the U.S. government imposed sanctions against 28 Chinese organizations.
