Near Luxor, found the first industrial zone of ancient Egypt

Egyptian archaeologists found near Luxor the first industrial zone of ancient Egypt, created during the reign of the pharaohs of the XVIII dynasty, according to a press release received. 30 workshops were located in it, in one of which gold was processed, and in the other, ceramic products were painted. Scientists also found an empty royal tomb, and inside it building tools.

In ancient times, Thebes, one of the Egyptian capitals, was located on the site of modern Luxor. The city was built on the right bank of the Nile, and on the left was a necropolis, which, including, included the Valley of the Kings. Here, during the New Kingdom (the period from 1550-1069 BC), the pharaohs, their households and some high-ranking officials were buried. Now in the Valley of the Kings 63 tombs of the pharaohs are known.

Recently, Egyptian scientists found another empty tomb of the pharaoh in the Valley of the Kings (why the researchers made such a conclusion, the press release does not say), and it contains construction tools. Another important discovery, and also not far from Luxor, was the discovery of the first industrial zone of Ancient Egypt. Archaeologists have discovered 30 workshops, including the smelting and processing of gold, and painting ceramic products. The buildings were dated by fragments of ceramics that were made during the reign of the pharaohs of the XVIII dynasty (1550-1292 BC). Here, researchers found a large reservoir for water, and artifacts: two silver rings, decorative elements that were used to decorate sarcophagi, gold foil and wings from the statue of the god Horus.

At the end of last year, in the necropolis of El Assassif near Luxor, archaeologists found a sarcophagus with the well-preserved mummy of an Egyptian woman who lived about three thousand years ago, and the tomb of the court, the caretaker for the embalming of the pharaohs, who lived about four millennia ago.
