SpaceX: The Starship Mk1 is ready to take us to Mars

Elon Musk’s plans to take the man to Mars do not stop, and after announcing months ago the project of his Starship spacecraft has now offered an important novelty: the ship has just been assembled in Texas.

It is there that this giant 50 meters high – which measures approximately a 10-story building – prepares for the first tests. Musk will give more details in a presentation tomorrow, and we will be able to know even more details of an ambitious project like few others.

Mars is still (something) far away

The ship formerly known as BFR has three gigantic Raptor engines, and has just been assembled so that its top and bottom are finally coupled and ready for the first tests.

It is expected that these first three engines will serve for a small initial test that will allow the ship to rise to an altitude of 20,000 meters next month.

From there, the following objective will be considered: putting the ship in orbit, something that could not take long to occur. We may still see some more prototypes of this spacecraft before Musk and SpaceX have the final ship ready.

Some of these details are expected to be revealed in a presentation that Musk will offer to the media on Saturday between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, and that is when we know what can be expected from the project in the short term.
