There is something strange in the current configuration of planets: the inner rocky planets, asteroid belt and gas giants in the outer solar system.

Scientists have conducted a simulation, according to which, behind Neptune could hide another planet. It is most similar in size to Mars or Earth.

This was reported by the scientific journal Annual Review of Astronomy and Astrophysics.

During the simulation, it is assumed that a planet the size of Earth or Mars could rotate behind Neptune. Astronomers also speculate that it may have been displaced from the outer regions of the solar system by gas giants.

Scientists continue to study the solar system to find out not only how the planets appeared, but also why they are in their orbits.

In the new work, the authors note that the theories that exist now are unable to explain the current configuration of the planets.

They suggest that there used to be another planet in the outer solar system (where the gas giants Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are located). Now it most likely exists outside of it.

Researchers believe that something is missing. Logic suggests that there must be another planet and a new simulation confirms this.

We will remind, NASA will send into space the device that it intentionally crashed into an asteroid. NASA plans to test the Earth’s ability to protect itself from the asteroid.
