Incoming news for Chrome OS: virtual desktops, a feature to start calls on the smartphone and immediate printing of documents.

Google is constantly working to improve Chrome OS, the operating system for Chromebook family computers, also based on feedback from users. Today the Mountain View group announces the arrival of some interesting news for the platform.

Chrome OS: Virtual Desks, Click-to-call and Print

The first has been named Virtual Desks and as you can already guess from the name it deals with organizing windows and content on multiple virtual desktops. The user has the opportunity to switch from one to the other in an instantaneous manner, such as browsing between document editing, web browsing, browsing the Play Store catalogue, reproducing multimedia content and so on.

Useful keyboard shortcuts are provided for quick command execution: creating a new desk with “Shift + Search + =”, switching from one Desk to another with “Search +” “and moving windows from one Desk to other with “Shift + Search +]”.

Another new feature is the one called Click-to-call: it allows you to start a call on a smartphone by clicking on a phone number from the Chromebook. The Chrome browser with authentication to your Google Account must be installed on your Android device.

The last noteworthy addition is the one relating to the Print function: simply press “Ctrl + P” to send a document to the printer, with the possibility of choosing one of those available to be set as default, so as to skip the last step. As always happens in these cases, the rollout of the news could take a few days before reaching all users.
