The Apple Pencil of the future could work without having to touch the iPad

Apple surprised us with the improvements implemented in the Apple Pencil of the second generation that came from the hand of the latest iPad Pro, but the company may still have more aces up his sleeve saved for future iterations of the accessory. A new patent that they have discovered since AppleInsider describes it to us.

The idea of the document is an Apple Pencil that is capable of executing actions just by bringing it closer to the iPad screen, without touching it. The tablet could detect the proximity and the angle of inclination of the pencil, making react the user interface according to what we need.

Zoom in on our finger would also work

The patent also proposes that detection work even with our fingers, something that would be perfect when we want to use the tablet in situations where we have dirty hands (such as when we are cooking). We could differentiate between actions to execute depending on whether we touch the screen or if we simply approach it.

At the technical level it is not too difficult: the iPhone already has proximity sensors from its very beginnings. The challenge here is the precision that would imply, but if it is already embodied in a patent it should not be impossible for those of Cupertino. Question of waiting and see if this finally comes true.
