A Condor Boeing 757-300 was forced to land at the Fuerteventura airport yesterday after suffering from engine trouble.

A Condor Boeing 757-300 destined to Hamburg was forced to make an emergency landing in Fuerteventura yesterday when a bird entered one of the two engines as soon as it took off from Lanzarote-César Manríque.

The plane landed safely after residents of Playa Honda saw flares and heard roars coming from the fuselage.

According to the sources, Flight DE1439 – a 23-year-old Boeing 757-330 with registration D-ABOB with 209 passengers, two pilots and six flight attendants was headed from Guacimeta to Hamburg at about 1:58 p.m.

People in the area of the airport facility heard a loud noise coming out from the aircraft. According to local media, multiple witnesses who were in the town of Güime (San Bartolomé) at the time saw “flares” coming out from one of the engines.

As soon as they realized what had happened, the crew decided to alter course and land as soon as possible, notifying the control tower.

Instead of turning around and returning to the airport of departure, the traffic controller sent them to Fuerteventura airport due to runway length, where they landed safely.
