Declares a campaign to avenge the killing of its leader, Abu Ibrahim al Hashimi al Quraishi, in February.

As part of a new campaign to revenge for the killing of its commander, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi, in February, the Islamic State terrorist group has called on its members and followers to carry out attacks across Europe, taking advantage of the conflict in Ukraine.

On the occasion of the Ramadan festival, the group’s spokesman, Abu Umar al-Muhajir, gave a speech in which he declared the commencement of the campaign, dubbed “Invasion in Revenge by the Two Sheikhs,” referring to Abu Ibrahim al Quraishi and his predecessor as spokesman, Abu Hamza.

The war in Ukraine is, therefore “an opportunity on a silver platter” for the terrorist group’s supporters to carry out attacks in Europe, he emphasized.

The spokesman for the jihadist group has also applauded the recent attacks perpetrated by members of the group in Israel and has asked that their example be followed, in which he calls for an increase in attacks in the country in the midst of rising tensions in Jerusalem.

The call for revenge for the death of Abu Ibrahim al Hashimi al Quraishi comes more than two months after the latter died during an operation by US special forces in the Syrian province of Idlib, located in the northwest of the country and controlled by various armed Islamist groups.

The late leader of the Islamic State took office in 2019 after the death of the group’s founder, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, also in an operation by US forces in Idlib. The jihadist organization named Abu Hassan al Qurashi as its new leader in March.
