Family receives bullying message with Pizza they never ordered

A family in Johnson County, Kansas, is outraged by what they describe as a “borderline hate crime.”

Someone delivered an unwanted pizza and salad to their home this week with a bullying note for their teenage daughter written on the Domino’s Pizza receipt.

The little girl’s grandmother, Marty Postlethwait, said a pizza delivery guy came to their house on Monday night with a message “when they answer say for [the teenager] she gets the salad cause she fat” written on the receipt.

Postlethwait believes the order was placed on Domino’s website, where the order form also includes an area for delivery instructions, which appears to be where the bullying remark was written.

“I think, to the extent they went to, this person needs to be held accountable for their actions. The sad part is, Domino’s hasn’t made it any easier for them to find out any answers,” Postlethwait said.

According to WDAF, the manager on duty at the Gardner Dominos stores said the franchise owner is out of town this week. The girl’s father claims that he has reported to restaurant managers both locally and nationally.

The teen attends Gardner-Edgerton High School, and the family believes the cruel message was sent by a fellow student there.

“This little girl’s feelings were crushed. There’s no ‘I’m sorry.’ There’s nothing we can do. I think that’s the hard part,” Postlethwait added.

“We send our deepest apologies to the family impacted by this hurtful language,” Domino’s Pizza, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, said in a statement to WDAF, “It is upsetting that the person who placed this order took advantage of our online ordering system in this way… We look forward to discussing this incident with the family directly.”

According to Domino’s statement, the firm denies its driver read the message aloud. School district officials expressed hope that this student’s family will contact them, noting that this district does not allow bullying of any type.
