Fire Department rescues 16 Austin dogs trapped inside van after it rolls over in Wisconsin

On New Year’s Eve in Wisconsin, a van transporting 16 dogs from the Austin Animal Shelter rolled over.

“At 7:55am this morning, the Big Bend Fire Department responded for a single vehicle roll over accident on I-43 just north of STH 164,” posted the Big Bend Fire Department on its Facebook page.

The canines had no injuries when they were assessed after the accident, according to the Big Bend Fire Department, which serves a village near Milwaukee.

“All 16 dogs were checked and had no apparent injuries. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries,” read the statement.

First responders sent the driver to the hospital with minor injuries, and the dogs were transported to the Washington County Humane Society for adoption.

The Waukesha Sheriff’s Department is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
