Patients were successfully recovering from surgeries and doctors did not understand why the condition of the patients deteriorated so rapdily.

In Texas, 37-year-old nurse William Davis was found guilty of the murder of four male patients. As the investigation found out, he injected air into the arteries of the patients.

According to the Prosecutors, the nurse targeted seven people aged between 47 and 74, experienced “seizure-like symptoms” and died from fatal brain damage after the air was injected into their arterial lines between June 2017 to January 2018.

“The court heard that the four men killed by Mr Davis had initially been recovering well from their operations and that doctors had been at a loss as to how their conditions had deteriorated so rapidly,” as reported by BBC.

Authorities claimed that it wasn’t until doctors saw CT scans that revealed air in the patients’ brains that they realised something was wrong.

Dr. William Yarbrough, a pulmonologist in Dallas, told the jury that he had never seen anything like this in his decades of medicine.

During the trial, security tape showed Davis walking into the room of one of the patients, whose heart monitor alarm went off three minutes later. He died as a result of the injection.

On Tuesday, October 19, a jury sentenced Davis, now he faces the death penalty. The man is now in custody.

In turn, the nurse’s lawyer, Davis’ lawyer, Philip Hayes argued that there was no evidence of premeditated murder, and there were “serious violations” in the hospital and his client became a “scapegoat”.
