The athlete was unexpectedly attacked by animals during a training session that ended up in the emergency room in the capital of Norway.
Two-time 2018 Olympic champion Norwegian skier Simen Hegstad Krüger, 28, was attacked by dogs while jogging in Oslo.
This was announced on Thursday, November 18, by VG.
“While jogging, two small dogs appeared next to me, which at first ran around and played, and then suddenly began to bite. I was not scared or screamed, but I was very surprised,” the athlete said.
He noted that they were two very small terriers with sharp teeth.
Kruger added that he spoke with the owners of the animals, who expressed regret about the incident and then sought medical help. The athlete has been prescribed antibiotics and a tetanus shot.
His trainer Eric Muir Nossum, upon learning of what had happened, reacted to the story with humor.
“Perhaps this is payback. Simen in the summer pierced Shura Rete’s leg with a stick, and he had to inject him against tetanus. Maybe Shur sent a couple of dogs after Simen to take revenge,” the coach said.
At the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Kruger won gold in the skiathlon and relay, and also finished second in the 15 km race. At the World Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany in 2021, the athlete won two silver and one bronze medals.
