Microsoft Office on new Apple iPad is no longer available for free

Microsoft’s office apps are no longer available for free on the new seventh-generation iPad. To be able to create or edit documents in Word, for example, without having to log in with a fee-based Office subscription, the device may have a maximum display of 10.1 inches.

The new iPad, however, has a 10.2-inch screen. Among other things, Microsoft points out in the descriptive text of the Word app in Google’s Play Store that the limit remains at 10.1 inches.

Previous iPad had 9.7 inches

Accordingly, existing users of iPad with a 9.7-inch screen can no longer edit their Word files for free when they switch to the new iPad. An Office 365 subscription costs at least $ 70, and users can use the Microsoft apps on multiple devices.

Alternatively, of course, other office applications can also be used on the new iPad, for example programs pre-installed by Apple. Anyone who has used Microsoft’s offer, should be annoyed by the fact that the payment limit is exceeded – especially because the new iPad is just 0.1 inches too big.

The new seventh-generation iPad will be available from September 30, 2019 and costs € 380 in the cheapest version with 32 GB of storage. With 128 GB of memory, the price of the tablet is 480 euros, the versions with LTE modem cost 140 euros more.
