In the US state of California, a resident has been infected with the new Omicron coronavirus strain.

This was announced by the head of the US National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci at a briefing on Wednesday, December 1.

According to him, the American, who returned home from South Africa nine days ago, has mild symptoms of the disease. It is noted that the patient is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The man is in self-isolation. All persons in contact with him were tested. “The results of their tests for coronavirus so far remain negative,” the infectious disease specialist emphasized.
