Bloomberg 50: 2021 most influential people who shaped global business

Albert Burla, Mackenzie Scott, Alexei Navalny, Vanessa Pappas, Britney Spears, and other well-known people have made outstanding contributions.

Bloomberg published a list of the world’s most powerful people in 2021 on Wednesday, December 1.

The yearly survey recognizes persons in the fields of business, entertainment, economics, politics, science, and technology whose accomplishments “deserve recognition” this year.

Albert Burla, General Director of the pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer, was mentioned among others in the Business section. The venture’s success, in collaboration with BioNTech, is said to have resulted in more than $ 36 billion in COVID-19 vaccination deals, making it “the best-selling pharmaceutical product this year.”

One of the wealthiest women in the world, ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos Mackenzie Scott, is featured in the Finance category. After her divorce, she donated about $ 8.6 billion to nearly 800 charities, earning her the title of most generous philanthropist.

The Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is included under the category Politics. “After healing overseas after being poisoned, the Kremlin’s strong critic has been in detention for more than ten months,” the agency added.

Vanessa Pappas, the COO of the social network TikTok, is the first in the Science and Technology section. In the first half of the year, TikTok had more US downloads (34.6 million) than its two biggest competitors, Instagram (17.7 million) and Snapchat (14.2 million), combined.

Finally, in the Entertainment area, one of the most influential figures is pop singer Britney Spears, who proclaimed herself free of her father’s custody for 14 years following five months of court hearings in November.
