Poland fears Russia may target Ukraine's neighbours too

Just hours after Russia launched a “full-scale” invasion of Ukraine, Poland has reported a “intensified” cyberattack.

It comes after Russian airstrikes were reported in Ivano-Frankivsk, Western Ukraine, just a few hours’ drive from Poland, after Vladimir Putin declared war.

“We are already observing the situation of cyber attacks, especially in Ukraine, but also intensified actions in Poland,” said Piotr Müller, a spokesman for the Polish government.

This comes after the EU deployed a cyber-rapid-response team to assist Ukraine in defending itself against cyber-attacks.

However, it now looks that Russia is also pursuing its neighbours.

Ben Makuch, a Vice News nastec correspondent, posted on Twitter: “Air strikes now as far west as Ivano Frankivsk which is just a few hours drive to Poland, a NATO member. This is truly on the doorstep. (Also where an infamous Russian cyber attack on the power grid happened in 2015).”
