According to officials, the situation seems to be normal in the areas where army and Assam Rifles have been deployed.

Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed in the capital Guwahati and other places to control violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Assam.

According to PTI, Lt Col P Khongsai, Defense Public Relations Officer, said, “A total of eight troops have been deployed so far, one in Bogaigaon, one in Morigaon, four in Guwahati and two in Sonitpur.” There are 70 soldiers in each troop.

The Public Relations Officer further said that the civil administration of all these areas including Guwahati had demanded Army and Assam Rifles to bring the deteriorating law and order under control.

According to Khongsai, wherever troops of Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed, they have been able to restore normalcy and are engaged in supporting civil administration.

After the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed by Parliament, President Ram Nath Kovind approved it on Friday. After this it became law. There is heavy violence in Assam against this law. This state of the Northeast is going through one of the most violent phases in its history. The railway station, some post offices, banks, bus terminals and many other public properties have been burnt here.
