Kuldeep Sengar, a four-time MLA on a BJP ticket, has been found guilty of kidnapping and rape. The party fired him after this case came to the headlines

The Tis Hazari court of Delhi has convicted MLA Kuldeep Sengar in Unnao rape case. He has been accused of kidnapping and rape. Kuldeep Sengar’s sentence will be debated on December 19, after which the court will pronounce the verdict. Shashi Singh, the co-accused in the case, has been acquitted by the court.

In the year 2017, Kuldeep Singh Sengar was arrested in April 2018 in the case of rape of a minor. In August last, the matter once again came into the limelight when the victim was seriously injured in a road accident in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. Two of his female relatives also died in that accident. Also, his lawyer was also badly injured.

Both the cases were investigated by the CBI and after the intervention of the Supreme Court, the case was transferred from a Lucknow court to a Delhi court. The matter was being heard daily since August 5. The court also reprimanded the CBI for late filing of the charge sheet.

Kuldeep Sengar has been a four-time BJP MLA from Bangarmau seat of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. He was expelled from the party in August. The same month, the court framed charges against Kuldeep Sengar and Shashi Singh under the Sexual Violence Against Children (Poxo) Act.
