A California resident in the United States has been arrested for … stealing food and other products worth a total of about $ 1,800 in a supermarket, local police said.

Supermarket executives at South Lakes Tahoe, on the border with Nevada, called police as “a customer was sculpting food products” in the middle of a coronation pandemic, local police spokesman Chris Fiore told AFP on Wednesday.

“The employee informed the officers that all the items in the suspect’s shopping cart were deemed unsellable due to the cross-contamination,”

according to a South Lake Tahoe police statement

When police arrived, the woman was wearing jewellery sold by the store, which she had also licked.

According to Fiore, 53-year-old Jennifer Walker had filled her stroller with various products, including meat and alcohol, which she could not pay for.

She was taken into custody for vandalism, and the products she had licked had to be destroyed due to fears of infection by Covid-19.

On Wednesday, Walker remained in custody in lieu of $10,000 bond, according to El Dorado County jail records. It wasn’t immediately clear whether she had an attorney.
