Waterfalls ‘upside down’ in Australia: another surprise of nature

Australian television records the incredible effect that the strong winds that shake the east of the country have had on a waterfall

In recent times we have been able to witness strange phenomena in various parts of the world. Thus, we discovered orange snow in some parts of Europe, we found rivers of black mud in the United States and we witnessed the behaviour of angry spiders because of climate change. But seeing falls upside down seemed like science fiction … until now.

Australian television has been able to record an almost incredible phenomenon. Some cliffs of New South Wales, in the southeast of the country, have witnessed how the water that, supposedly, should fall towards the sea by the force of gravity, did just the opposite: it flew upwards defying all scientific logic.

The video has gone viral on social networks and, although it is spectacular, it has a simple explanation: that turn the water makes to rise upwards responds to the force of the winds that are affecting this part of Australia.

The world upside down

According to 7 News, the winds reached a speed of over 70 kilometres per hour in the Royal National Park, the area where the images were recorded. For this reason, the authorities have issued alerts for the storm with special attention to surfers, since the situation can be very dangerous.

In addition, floods are occurring in the area that has caused the evacuation of hundreds of residents from their homes for three days, although extending that period is not ruled out if the storm does not subside. At the moment, entire towns have been left without electricity and have led to deploying the army in some areas.

Those winds made some waterfalls, for a moment, a unique place in the world, but they are also causing great damage. The residents just want the storm to pass as soon as possible and for the water to fall back under its own weight, as always, for the good of all.
