Diverse and renowned rockers, especially from the 60s and 70s, make up the precious group. In addition to their music, it was precisely their death that led them there, and that’s why the 27 Club bears its name because all its members died at that age.

Drug overdose, suicide or car accidents are some of the causes of early death that led them to join the famous and dark club. Who are the most famous?

  • Robert Johnson

The oldest member is from the early twentieth century. It is about the American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist Robert Johnson. He was born on May 8, 1911, and died August 16, 1938, at the age of 27, although the cause of his death is unknown.

One of the most memorable names in the club is Jimi Hendrix. The American guitarist and singer was an icon of blues and rock when he passed away in 1970. Before, he released four albums, although many more were released after his death.

50 years later, Hendrix continues to be considered one of the most influential musicians in rock history.

  • Janis Joplin

Along with Amy Winehouse, Joplin is one of the few women members of the 27 Club. Although in general, the term refers to American music and at that time, other women only appear when other genres and places in the world are added.

The rock and blues singer was another of the most important musical references of the 60s until she passed away on October 4, 1970.

  • Jim Morrison

The Doors are one of the most famous rock bands of the second half of the 20th century. In just eight years of existence – 1965 to 1973 – they released nine albums. Jim Morrison, vocalist and leader of the group, is another of the most mentioned members of the club.

He died in 1971 from a heart attack, although there are versions that suggest a possible suicide or drug overdose.
