Study reveals when an RNA-based vaccine begins to protect against Covid-19

Researchers in the trials of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine found that two weeks after the first dose, the body turns on protection against Coronavirus.

The mRNA-based coronavirus vaccine begins to protect against coronavirus after 14 days of the first dose. This is stated in an article on the results of a large-scale study, which was published in the journal Nature.

It is noted that we are talking about a study of a vaccine created by Moderna, which was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration on December 18.

According to the report, 30 thousand volunteers took part in large-scale clinical trials. Half of them received two doses of placebo and half received two doses of the vaccine. The break between injections lasted 28 days.

As a result, scientists have found that the vaccine is 94% effective in preventing the onset of COVID-19 symptoms. And previous analysis has indicated that a single dose of the vaccine may provide some protection against the onset of asymptomatic disease. During the trial, 30 patients developed severe symptoms of COVID-19. But they all received a placebo.

About half of the volunteers who received the vaccine complained of side effects such as headaches. Such effects appeared after the second injection. But there were almost no serious side effects.
