Mammograms should be done at least once every two years and, after age 50, become more frequent and done annually.
Men, on the other hand, from the age of 45, should visit a urologist regularly and get tested for prostate cancer.
For men over 50 years of age, regular PSA tests are also recommended, as an elevated PSA level may indicate the presence of the disease.
The expert stresses that early detection of cancer makes the chances of a favorable prognosis 90% to 98%.
