This is how you can detect cancer in its early stage

Cancer is a disease that develops in stages, and the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the chances of a cure. A specialist explained how to detect cancer still at an early stage.

To diagnose possible cancer in its initial phase, it is necessary to undergo a series of specific tests in time, said the oncologist consulted by Revyuh. These medical tests are different for men and women.

According to the specialist, to reduce the risk of late detection of cancer, women older than 39 years should have mammograms and cervical exams regularly.

Mammograms should be done at least once every two years and, after age 50, become more frequent and done annually.

Men, on the other hand, from the age of 45, should visit a urologist regularly and get tested for prostate cancer

For men over 50 years of age, regular PSA tests are also recommended, as an elevated PSA level may indicate the presence of the disease.

The expert stresses that early detection of cancer makes the chances of a favorable prognosis 90% to 98%.

The American Cancer Society, American Lung Association and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force say yes — if you’re older and are (or were) a longtime smoker then you should be screen every year.
