Alec Baldwin Case: This has been confirmed by the Santa Fe County district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies
The weapon with which Alec Baldwin accidentally killed his partner from the film ‘Rust’, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, was real and not props.
It was confirmed to the newspaper ‘The New York Times’ this Tuesday by the district attorney of Santa Fe (New Mexico, USA) Mary Carmack-Altwies; these statements come a few hours before a press conference this Wednesday by the investigators.
No allegation of any kind has been ruled out, according to the district attorney. About a week to go after the cinematographer’s death, the ‘scapegoat’ is assistant director Dave Halls.

He would have been responsible for assuring Alec Baldwin, during a test run, that the pistol was “cold,” that is, out of ammunition.
Ms. Carmack-Altwies also objected to the phrase “prop-gun” being used to describe the firearm used in the incident, claiming that the word, which is used in some court documents relating to the case, could create the false impression that it was not a real gun.
“It was a legit gun,” she said, without naming specifically what kind of firearm was used. “It was an antique-era appropriate gun.”
The prosecutor also says that “an enormous amount number of bullets” were found during the shoot, requiring an investigation into the nature of the ammunition.
Ms. Carmack-Altwies stated that detectives are currently interviewing everyone who were on the set.
“It’s probably weeks, if not months, of follow-up investigation that we’re going to need to get to the point of charging.”
Ms. Carmack-Altwies, who is expected to speak with media at a news conference alongside Sheriff Adan Mendoza of Santa Fe County on Wednesday morning, stated that this incident was one of the most difficult cases in Santa Fe County in recent memory.
“We have complex cases all the time,” she said. “But this kind of complex case, with these kinds of prominent people, no.”
