This type of pain could signal you have really high cholesterol

High cholesterol is regarded as the “silent killer” because it often goes undetected. This out of the ordinary symptom could signal that you have excessive cholesterol or high blood pressure.

Shoulder pain should never be ignored, according to doctors, because it could be caused by plaques in the bloodstream.

According to a study published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, those who have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes are more likely to experience rotator cuff pain than others.

“If a person has rotator cuff problems, it could indicate that something else is going on in their body. They may need to control risk factors for cardiovascular disease,” explains one of the study authors, Kurt T Hegmann, from the University of Utah.

The study results showed: “a strong association was observed between CVD risk scores and both glenohumeral joint pain and rotator cuff tendinopathy. Peak odds ratios (ORs) of the adjusted models were 4.55 [95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.97 to 10.31] and 5.97 (95% CI 2.12 to 16.83), respectively. The results show a dose-response trend of increasing risk.”

Although the authors of the report believe that additional research is necessary to establish the cause of this phenomenon, pain is a well-known symptom of peripheral artery disease, which happens when blood cannot reach various sections of the body due to blood channel narrowing.

In some situations, the accumulation of fat and cholesterol in the arteries is the cause of the condition.

Aside from these symptoms, plaques can also cause pale face, numbness, and loss of pulse in the extremities.
