Cobra Kai Season 5: Thomas Ian Griffith promises a “fascinating” story for fifth season

Actor Thomas Ian Griffith recently expressed his excitement to reprise his role as Terry Silver, the villain of the hit Netflix series “Cobra Kai” in the upcoming season.

On New Year’s Eve, Netflix released the fourth season of the iconic martial arts comedy-drama series ‘Cobra Kai,’ which is a sequel to Robert Mark Kamen’s original ‘The Karate Kid’ films.

Griffith is one of the new series’ cast members, returning his role as the antagonist from 1989’s ‘Karate Kid Part III.’ Terry Silver, who played a villain in the last film, is back in the role of Daniel LaRusso’s tormentor.

Despite the fact that the third installment of the series did not perform as well as the first two, Griffith told The Hollywood Reporter that he enjoyed working on it and that he is “thrilled” to return as the villain for the Netflix series.

Griffith indicated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the upcoming season’s ride with his freshly developed complex character will be more enjoyable.

“You’re going to see the next level of Terry Silver. It is like what the creators say, ‘What if Terry had won the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1989?’ So we’ll explore that — and it is fascinating.”

The fourth season of the series was recently released, and it takes place more than 30 years after the events of the 1984 film ‘The Karate Kid,’ which saw Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) defeat Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) at the All Valley Karate Tournament.

In Season 4, Daniel and Johnny’s Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos join forces to defeat the Cobra Kai dojo of John Kreese (Martin Kove), their longtime opponent, at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament.

The ‘Cobra Kai’ cast also includes Mary Mouser as Daniel and Amanda’s daughter Samantha, Xolo Mariduena as Johnny’s young neighbor Miguel Diaz, Tanner Buchanan as Johnny’s son Robby, Gianni Decenzo as Miyagi-Do student Demetri, Jacob Bertrand as Demetri’s best friend Eli, Vanessa Rubio as Miguel’s mother Carmen, and Peyton List as Cobra Kai student Tori. In addition to Dallas Dupree Young and Oona O’Brien, the cast also includes Griffin Santopietro and Thomas Ian Griffith.

Macchio, Zabka, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg of Counterbalance Entertainment, who also serve as showrunners; Will Smith, James Lassiter, and Caleeb Pinkett of Westbrook Entertainment; and Susan Ekins of Sony Pictures Television are among the executive producers.
